TERROIR 
Gimelli is located in the Cienega Valley AVA, at the foot of the northeastern Gabilan Range and about a mile from Calera Wine Company. First planted in 1908 and originally called “El Gabilan Vineyard,” it sits next to the San Andreas fault, at 1000 ft elevation. Thanks to its faultline location, the vineyard is blessed with both granite and limestone parent material, which have mostly eroded to sandy loam. Our hillside block was grafted from zinfandel to gamay noir in 2022. Located about 20 miles from Monterey Bay near the town of Hollister, Gimelli benefits from both the cooling effects of Monterey Bay, as well as warmer days than most of our more coastal vineyards. Wines from Gimelli tend towards bright yet earthy fruit, with crystalline acidity and a touch of mountain structure. 

TASTING 
Bright red. Aromatics of wild cherry, rose petal, and savory herbs are followed by flavors of raspberry hard candy and salted plum. Medium bodied with high acidity and elegant tannins.
